In November 1950, the Ferguson Church of the Nazarene was organized with eleven charter members. The church was constructed across from January-Walbash Park in Ferguson. In 1955 the congregation was growing and thus an addition of a sanctuary was added to the original building. God continued to bless. Sunday School classes were held in buses and nearby homes. Three other Nazarene churches were organized in the St. Louis metro area during this time as a direct result of the faith and effort of this original Ferguson congregation. Also during this time, the Ferguson community was experiencing the “baby boom” and needed more school facilities for preschool to kindergarten age children. North County Christian School was established in 1963, as a ministry of the Ferguson Church, and presently has an enrollment of over 500 students, infants through 12th grade. In 1964, the congregation took a huge leap of faith and bought the existing grounds. Through much prayer and dedication by the people, the main building was built and was dedicated in February, 1966. In 1983, the educational/gymnasium unit was added. In 1997, three additional acres were purchased, plus a house now used for Cornerstone young adult outreach. In 2004 North County Christian School urgently needed more room for it’s growing student body. By a miracle of God we were able to buy the new north campus at 845 Dunn road. A wonderful school campus complete with 11 acres and 9 buildings. This has allowed further growth for both school and church ministries. We now look to God for His guidance in what the future holds for Ferguson Church. The Ferguson Church of the Nazarene is affiliated with the rapidly growing International Church of the Nazarene with headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri. |
