Teen’s Orlando Mission Report #1

by Julie ~ June 24th, 2009

Greetings from sunny, I mean rainy………..no, wait……..sunny Florida.  We are just starting day two of work on the One Heart-Many Hands projects.  Despite the rainy weather, we will continue serving the two families that were assigned to our team.

We have found one family eager to fellowship, and another just trying to make it through each day.  Please lift up both families in prayer.  Two of the family members are especially on our hearts right now.  Cynthia, the mother of one of the families, was admitted to the hospital on Sunday.  Her son Billy also needs our prayers.  We are praying that his mind will be clear and that his heart will be open to receive God’s love through us.

Our teens and sponsors have been incredible.  Despite roaches, lack of air conditioning at one site and enough heat to necessitate wringing out your socks every once in a while (literally), they have worked tirelessly.  The rain will make work a bit more challenging, but we still hope to finish up one of the projects today.

God has blessed us with beautiful homes to stay in.  The living areas are big enough to allow us to meet and fellowship together in the morning and evening, and the screened in pool has been amazing.  While not all of God’s creatures are greatly appreciated (no alligator sightings yet, but plenty of bugs, frogs and lizards), we have enjoyed watching the egrets that wander around the neighborhood.

One of the greatest blessings of this trip so far has been the way we are all being challenged to grow in servant-hood.  We know that our Father will be faithful to provide the strength and opportunity to fulfill the desire He has placed in our hearts to grow in this area.

Continued health, patience, a sense of God’s presence in the life and work of our team, and the furthering of God’s kingdom through this ministry are at the top of my prayer list.  The One Heart, Many Hands ministry has been publicized on local news stations, and we are all aware whom we represent.  Your continued prayers are much appreciated.

                                                                        God Bless,

                                                                        Orlando Team
